I am trying to help a friend out who is searching for a song.  Best thing is to quote what he has written

"Can anyone help me please to identify a folksong?   It is Irish, and the name of the tune is "Wicklow"

The hymn "Our blest redeemer, ere he breathed his tender last farewell" is sometimes sung to this tune (though it is more usually sung to the tune 'St Cuthbert').

But I need to find the original Irish words.
"

I have been able to locate sheet music for the tune here

http://www.hymnary.org/media/fetch/191116

But as I am in no way musical I cannot then link this tune to any particular Irish folksong.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Thanks in advance if you can help.

Now found the song title - My own Dear Colleen Dhas

Now all I need are the lyrics.  Anyone?

Would it be a different song than Cailin Deas recorded by Delia Murphy on 2/7/1941 on HMV 813. Delia refers to my charming cailin deas. I could send you an mp3 of this recording. Let me know at emcgraw@rochester.rr.com
