Hi everyone, pardon my speaking in English, but I am not very good yet with speaking in Portuguese (I'm learning, though). I joined the group because I plan to come to Rio Grande do Sul in the near future , likely for an extended stay. I'll be living in Viamão while I'm there. I'm trying to connect with other people who play ITM in areas near Viamão, or hear about sessions or events in the area. Even if it's farther away somewhere else in Rio Grande do Sul, I can always make the trip. I'd really like to meet up with some people to have some tunes with while I'm there. It's very near Porto Alegre, so going there would be no problem at all.
If anyone has any information on any of this, I'd be happy to hear about it!
Hope all is well with you all,
Quanto tempo viveste no Brasil?
Yes sir, I do.
I became interested in trad irish music when I visited Ireland, staying with an irish friend of mine. Came back to Brazil with a tin whistle and a tune book, and started a small project here in Porto Alegre, the capital of the southernmost state in Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul. We started as a trio with guitar, fiddle and I would change between tin whistle and mandolin. Now I've got a tenor banjo, an octave mandolin an also an irish flute. Our fiddler left the band, but we got a button accordion player to replace it, and things are beginning to sound really cool. I like chorinho as well, but it's a really challenging genre. ITM is also challenging, but it suits me better.
Olá Lawrie! Tudo tranquilo, e tu?
