Traditional Irish Music
1. DO I GAIN ACCESS TO ADDITIONAL FEATURES WHEN I JOIN TRADCONNECT?
2. AS A RECORDING ARTIST HOW CAN I PROMOTE MY MUSIC?
One of the great things about TradConnect is that we have members from many of the main traditional groups as well as solo performers. We want TradConnect to be a place where professional musicians share the same online space with their fans. Please read this page and also read this blog You can also post us a copy of your CD and we will review and feature it.
Also check out our Album Review Guidelines
3. I HAVE A BLOG ELSEWHERE ON THE WEB, CAN I ALSO BLOG ON TRADCONNECT ?
If you have a blog elsewhere on the web you can of course also post the information on Tradconnect. At the end of the blog you say something like "previously published on ( Blog address ) Please ensure you post the entire article with the link at the end. Excerpts that require the reader to exit Tradconnect in order to complete the article will not be featured. We have a growing audience here on Tradconnect so it's a good way to draw attention to your work as well.
4. WHAT TYPE OF VIDEOS CAN I UPLOAD?
We are trying to make Tradconnect a site that deals in the main with instrumental traditional Irish music and so all videos relating to this can be uploaded. All instrumental videos will be approved as long as the quality of sound and picture is at a satisfactory level. For now videos set to slide shows will not be approved and these should be added as a blog if you still want to upload them.
With regard to songs and vocal performances we will approve videos in the traditional form especially those by recording artists and members with professional recordings or albums.
5. SOME OF MY VIDEOS HAVE NOT BEEN APPROVED ?
The majority of videos are approved. However videos are withheld if any of the following applies
If your video is not approved you can still add it to your My Page as a link. People can view it. It will not however be in the Video Library and will not show up on the Leaderboards.
6. CAN I EMBED VIDEOS INTO THE "WHAT BRING YOU HERE" ON LATEST ACTIVITY ?
We prefer if members do not try to load or embed videos into the "What brings you here" section on Latest Activity. From time to time we have do deal with "Unwanted people" that join the site and try to load unsuitable material. If they see links to videos in the latest activity it simple gives them ideas and way to get around the approval process
All videos must be submitted for approval in an effort to maintain quality control. You can link videos to your My Page or in the Discussion forum as long as they are not for the purpose of over the top or blatant product promotion. Promotion of artists and albums, gigs etc is not permitted.
7. CAN I FORM GROUPS YET ?
The groups function has been turned on so that anyone can form a group. For more information on Groups see this quick guide to the groups that have already been formed as well as this more technical page HERE
8. WHO DO I CONTACT IF I HAVE ENCOUNTER TECHNICAL PROBLEMS ?
On the very bottom of your screen there is a "Report An Issue" button. Press this to report your issue.
9. I AM HAVING TROUBLE SENDING MESSAGES ?
Most message problems on the network arise from using Internet Explorer 8 or 9 as your browser. Try switching to Google Chrome, Firefox or other. Also remember that you can only send messages to people that are your friends, so you need to invite them as a friend first.
To prevent messages to you ending up in your trash/spam box which somethimes happens add the following addresses to your contacts list in your email account thay you used to register, gmail, yahoo etc
10. HOW DO I CONNECT WITH OTHER PLAYERS?
TradConnect acts as a gathering place for traditional musicians from all over the world. Firstly check out our Member Map which was launched in June 2012. It will take a while to get this populated with all our members but is a good place to view other members in your location.
On this site there is also a Group tab that allows members to set up Groups for any purpose that they want. Read this Some of these groups are called TradConnect Groups, for example "Dublin TradConnect", "Galway TradConnect". If you answered "Yes" to your profile question, Do you want to connect with others? then you should join the group that is closest to you. As TradConnect is still in it's infancy we at present only have the groups as detailed here We would like members to set up groups for their county or state, which in time will become a very powerful communication device.
