Sarah Elizabeth replied to Susie's discussion Teaching Tin Whistle to Young Children in the group Whistlin' high and low
"I actually teach young children for a living, and I know exactly what you're feeling with the short attention span, Susie. Since the lesson is only twenty minutes, I say that they have no excuses to lose focus. However, they don't know…"

Student's Trad

Posted on September 15, 2011 at 2:18 0 Comments

I am new to TradConnect. So new. In fact, I only learned about this awesome site this morning. I am a university student based in New York City. I have been playing Irish tin whistle for about a year. I am nowhere near to advanced, but I have discovered a love and passion for Irish traditional music. I am eager to share it with people, especially with New York City.

New York City has a huge Irish musician community (maybe not as strong as Boston, but we won't open up…

Hi Sarah,

Just a line to say many thanks for joining the O'Carolan group and becoming our 40th member! I started this group about 3 months ago and its been a complete journey of discovery for me. In searching out examples of his tunes for the archive I've discovered dozens of delightful pieces that nobody seems to be doing. I hope you have lots of fun with the group and find the inspiration to learn lots of his tunes.

It seems a long time since we have spoken, and you seem to have moved to Virginia! I hope all is going well for you and that your finding plenty of whistling opportunities.

Kind Regards,

Mike

Hi and welcome! A tip for you: http://tradconnect.com/profiles/blogs/beautiful-people

I smiled when i read your blog regarding battered whistles : ) Posted a pic (in fact the avatar for the whistle group here) with a selection of my whistles, they are pretty much the equivalent of Fenders Rory Gallagher/Stevie Ray Vaughan signature series Stratocasters ;-p
