Traditional Irish Music
For anyone that missed out on this remarkable album last year from Le Vent du Nord then it is well worth your while checking it out. It ended up in the Top 10 albums of the year for many people and would have very much slipped under the radar here in Ireland. It is a beautiful captivating recording and must represent the peak of this group’s career to date.
Le Vent du Nord (The North Wind) are a Canadian folk music group from Quebec. They started out in 2002 with a repertoire that consists of traditional Québécois music. It is of course influenced by other forms of Celtic music from Brittany and Ireland. Pulsating and infectious rhythms predominate with fiddle featuring strongly. Don't worry about your inadequate French or the fact that you may not understand a single word. It doesn’t matter when the music, arrangement and their trademark ‘call and respond’ harmonies are as strong as this. Simply put this is an outstanding album that you will return to again and again. If you want something eclectic to add to your Saturday night playlist then this is it. Your guests will cock an ear and ask “What is that?" It's Le Vent du Nord you will casually respond. Nice, isn't it?
