Bríd Harper, Dermot Byrne & John Doyle - The Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts - 5th August

Individually brilliant Bríd, Dermot and John are among the most in demand and highly respected artists in the world of traditional music. This outstanding trio of Irish musicians will come together on Friday 5th August for a very special evening of traditional music at Belfast's No1 live music venue, The Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts.

Bríd Harper is an Irish traditional fiddle player from Castlefinn, Co. Donegal. She has won numerous All Ireland titles and other prestigious fiddle awards including the Senior All Ireland, Oireachtas na Gaeilge and Fiddler of Dooney. Bríd has performed with many great musicians including Dermot Byrne, Steve Cooney, Donogh Hennessy, Danny O'Mahony, Arty McGlynn, Harry Bradley, Tony O'Connell and Cyril O'Donoghue. She has been hailed as one of the leading exponents of traditional fiddle playing of our time.

Dermot Byrne is one of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians having been awarded the Irish Television station, TG4’s Traditional Musician of the Year2013. His seemingly effortless playing, combined with great subtlety, and a faultless ear, makes him one of the great accordion players of his generation. He guested on two Altan recordings “The Red Crow” and “Island Angel” and was a member of the band from 1994 until 2013. Dermot has guested on collaborations with many great musicians including Seamus and Manus McGuire, Sharon Shannon, Frankie Gavin, Pierre Schryer, Tim O\’Brien and the late jazz violinist, Stephane Grappelli.

Name many of the most notable recordings and/or performers in Irish music and it's a fair bet that John Doyle had something to do with them. Liz Carroll; Eileen Ivers; Karan Casey; Solas; Michael Black; Mary Black; the trio of McCusker, McGoldrick and Doyle; The Teetotalers (Martin Hayes, Kevin Crawford, John Doyle); and now Usher's Island (Andy Irvine, Donal Lunny, Mike McGoldrick, Paddy Glackin and John Doyle) - a vertible who's who of the greatest names in Irish music.

There are few artists more respected in the genre or more in demand in the studio, as songwriter and performer.
