Traditional Irish Music
This is quite the surprise as we start the new year. Glasgow band The Hur have released their debut single and it is surprisingly good. The band members from Scotland and Ireland seek to challenge the borders of musical fusion with energetic original songs and compositions along with innovative harmonies, improvisation and harsh contrasts.
Their sampling of ALDOC’s ‘In Halle’ for this their debut single works brilliantly within the track and once again shows the depth Alan Doherty’s compositions.
Charlie Galloway (guitar) and Benedict Morris (fiddle), are currently engrossed in the traditional music course and classical music course in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Joe Fleming (drums) having just graduated.
Iain Wilson (pipes, vocals) has been involved in the music scene from a young age including work with pipe bands in Scotland (Inveraray and District) and Savannah Donohoe (flute) with Comhaltas and Fleadhs around Ireland.
Newly formed, the band aspires to strive and impact the pulsating folk scene in Scotland and Ireland.
They have just finished recording some new tracks tracks and Still Standing is their debut single. It was written by band members Iain Wilson and Charlie Galloway.
