Traditional Irish Music
Kiérah Raymond lives near White Rock, B.C. in a community that is very supportive of the arts. She started classical violin with the Suzuki program at 4 years old and is now doing her ARCT with the Royal Conservatory of Music. For the past 9 years, Kiérah has been a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the Semiahmoo Strings Youth Orchestra. Her true passion, however, is performing and composing Celtic fiddle music. Taught by many wonderful teachers at the week long summer fiddle camps on the Sunshine Coast as well by listening to many East Coast, Irish and Scottish recordings, fiddle music has become an integral part of Kiérah’s musical life.
This album is her second and it' glorious. Named for her love of the instrument and all the wonderful music played with it. The album is a revelation from a player so young, blending old and new with effortless ease. Add to this 16 of her own tune's that also really shine. Touches of Eileen Ivers in places with the title track in particular standing out. Repeated listens means it really starts to grow on you. Great support from Nova Scotia’s multi-talented Troy MacGillivary on piano and Andy Hillhouse on guitar. Loved it. Listen & Buy
