Notes from the Road : Andrew Finn Magill

I have just finished an amazing 23-gig tour with Paul McKenna of The Paul McKenna Band. Here is a sample of the fun.

Tour Top 3 (in reverse order to build "suspense"...):

3. Driving 9 1/2 hours to play a TED talk.

2. Playing with Leah Song at Asheville's The Grey Eagle

1. Being introduced as an Aussie and faking the accent for the first 5 minutes of a 40+ person house concert until breaking character.

I have 2 weeks back in our beloved "cesspool of sin" Asheville, North Carolina before I hit the road again... this time for California, to play with my new project Brazilian Violin Trio. The trio includes the two enormously talented musicians whose mug shots are above, Ted Falcon & Nando Duarte.

But wait there's more.. (in the NW)

The fun doesn't stop there. After Ted & Nando head back south I will be doing some WA duo gigs playing traditional Irish music with Cary Novotny. Those dates are:

5/31 Crystal Ballroom at the Leopold - Bellingham WA

6/1 Bellingham Folk School Workshop - Bellingham WA

6/2 Traditions Cafe - Olympia WA

6/3 Conor Byrne Pub - Seattle WA

In June I have the good fortune to be teaching some great fiddle camps and be doing a lot of gigs playing the different genres I am passionate about: Irish, American, & Brazilian. From June 6/3-6/10 I'll be teaching American fiddle tunes and beyond at

Montana Fiddle Camp

Then I'll be headed all the way to Maine to embark on a New England mini-tour which for me starts 6/29 at

The Acadia Trad School

...followed by:

7/1 The Maine Music Mill -Brunswick ME

7/2 The Unitarian Universalist Church of Bangor - Bangor ME

7/2 Paddy Murphy's - Bangor ME

7/5 - The Burren Backroom w/ Nathan Gourley

I'm still working on stuff for summer but I can tell you it will involve quite a lot of fiddle camping (the best kind of camping) and an August trip to Europe... stay tuned for more on that later..

I am busy working on the new album and have a few more projects in the pipeline. I'll have video and audio material for all of these projects later this year so follow me on facebook to see/hear/learn about them. That's the news from my side of the world and if you need anything at all, just holler. Have a good April~
