Best New Song dealing with Emigration - Rise Up by The Rattling Kind

Now we will be honest from the get go that this is strictly not traditional Irish.  We received these tracks through from Dublin band The Rattling Kind and as always we listen to everything.  A lot of the music we get falls outside the traditional remit that we have set for ourselves.  In this instance we are going to make an exception because of one of their songs called Rise Up

We have for some time been looking for some new songs dealing with Ireland's present economic situation, emigration and our young people and this just may be it. Its a great song from what are without doubt one of the most exciting rock folk bands that we have heard of recently. There are elements of Mick Flannery, Damien Dempsey, Peter Case or even The Stunning within them. Rock solid, folk rock and a band with a very bright future indeed.  They have an EP out Called Rise Up that includes this and a few other really impressive songs with only one cover, a song by Pete St John called The Mero.

We will continue our search for the best new songs dealing with Ireland's present date emigration.  If you know of any or have recorded one maybe send it to our email address which you will find at the bottom of our home page, or add a link below.  In the meantime check out The Rattling Kind on Soundcloud
