Event Description

Their energy, virtuosity and imagination has won them a worldwide reputation, and a fistful of international awards to back it up. 'Lyric FM'
Mixing traditional Ulster songs with the power and delicacy of duelling pipes, fiddles, whistles, guitar, bouzouki and bodhran, Donal O’Connor, John McSherry, Francis McIllduff and Ciara McCrickard create a sonic landscape that takes the listener on a journey of discovery from the roots to the future of the Irish tradition, described as 'equal parts grace and danger'.
Newest band member, Ciara McCrickard, carries the pedigree of the great Ulster song tradition into the new millennium. Her crystalline tone and intricate turns, combined with her vocal honesty, bring to audiences a voice that only comes along once in a generation.

“Traditional music that feels at home in the 21st century” – Folkworld

“This is glorious. Spearheaded by three musicians who represent three of the most prominent families in Ulster traditional music circles” - Scottish Herald

“At First Light’s wildly-blazing and gently-contemplative aspects prove equally compelling” ABC Australian National Radio
