John Williams and Eoin O’Neill , November 2020 ‘ Wild Atlantic Way Tour’
Wild Atlantic Music Tours takes great pleasure in welcoming John Williams and Eoin O’Neill to the team. The multi-award winning musicians will lead the November 1-7, 2020 ‘Wild Atlantic Way Tour’. Both John and Eoin have a huge attachment to The Wild Atlantic Way and in particular County Clare. Traditional music hotspots such as Doolin and Ennis have instilled in them a sense of musical and cultural appreciation of the region, one which they are eager to showcase.
Join John, Eoin and a host of friends and experience Irish music at its best during an unforgettable and unique trip. Meet some of the region’s best known musicians as they join the lads for private music sessions each evening.
John Williams is based in Chicago, USA, with a strong Irish family background in Doolin. John is an award winning multi-instrumentalist and The Irish Musicians Association of America have presented John and his father Brendan with the Musicians of the Year award. He is also an All Ireland Champion on the concertina, an instrument played by his father and grandfather at rural house dances in Doolin, County Clare dating back to the late1800's.
Eoin O’Neill , award winning musician and radio presenter has lived in Clare for the past 40 years. He has been an integral part of the traditional music landscape in the county. “I arrived in Doolin on December 28, 1979. I thought I was coming for an afternoon and I’m still here,” he says of his arrival. In 2015 Eoin was the winner of the MÓRglór award for Outstanding Contribution to Traditional Music in County Clare.
The ‘Wild Atlantic Way Tour’ is a 6 night musical, cultural and sightseeing journey around Clare, Sligo and Galway. The tour will kick off in Sligo. We will spend 2 nights in an authentic historic Irish Castle where John, Eoin and friends will treat the group to unique sessions. Day 3 we stop off in Galway , ‘The City of the tribes’. Then we head to County Clare for 4 nights during which we visit places such as Doolin, Ennis, The Cliffs of Moher, The Burren & Bunratty Castle.
Enjoy the spectacular scenery the West Coast Of Ireland has to offer. Experience a warm Irish welcome in luxury hotels in Sligo & Clare. Places are limited to 30-40 people.
Music on the Wild Atlantic Way
Ceol agus craic ar Slí an Atlantaigh Fhiáin
The Wild Atlantic Way is a tourism trail on the West Coast of Ireland. The stunning 2,500km of coastline offers breathtaking scenery, invigorating sea swells, gastronomic gems and a warm welcoming atmosphere. The WAW is a haven for traditional Irish musicians. In every town, village and remote townland dotted along the Western Coast, there is a wealth of traditional Irish music sessions to be enjoyed. These sessions are informal and often impromptu, making the Wild Atlantic Way a little piece of music heaven
