Presented by the CIM, the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend is a unique festival that pairs world-class traditional Irish musicians and teachers with learners of all ages and abilities for a weekend of workshops, lectures, Friday night ceili, Friday and Saturday evening social hours (read: sessions & food!) and a rare and virtuosic concert on Saturday night.
MIM offers a half-day beginner program for children ages 7-11, a 3-day intermediate to advanced program for youth ages 12-21 and a variety of 80-minute workshops for adults on fiddle, uilleann pipes, flute, whistle, piano, Irish accompaniment, Irish harp and more.
Irish music aficionados who might not play an instrument will enjoy Jesse Smith's talk on the music of the famous Sligo fiddler, "The Music of Michael Coleman" on Saturday at and Dáithí Sproule's "A Conversation with Felix Dolan", a casual interview of a legendary musician in the Irish American scene on Sunday morning.
