About the Line Up
It is fair to say that Donal Lunny’s influence is inescapable in the Irish traditional music that we know and celebrate today. Being one of the major drivers of the traditional Irish music renaissance in the 1970’s, he is recognisable as a founding member of Planxty, Bothy Band, Moving Hearts, Coolfin, and more recently, Mozaik.
Synonymous with the accordion for decades, Máirtín O’Connor has an impressive 17 albums under his belt including his solo ventures, his partnerships with Cathal Hayden and Seamie O’ Dowd, and the contempo String Quartet to name a few.
Sean-nós singer Nell Ní Chróinín hails from the Muskerry Gaeltacht in Co. Cork and since 2016 has been a member of Irish traditional band Danú. Nell is an incredibly accomplished vocalist, the youngest ever recipient to receive ‘TG4’s Gradam Ceoil Traditional Singer of the Year‘ award..
Cork Opera House welcome back Strung, who appeared in RHRN2017. The contemporary Irish music ensemble, comprises of Maria Ryan (violin/vocals), Lucia Mac Partlin (violin), Séan Warren (cello) and Aonghus McCarthy (piano). Their dynamic ensemble and unique backgrounds allow them to subtly integrate complex harmonies and innovative motifs, while staying true to the deep-rooted authenticity of traditional Irish melodies.
