Event Description

Ronan O’Flaherty – fiddle and viola
Josie Mac Donnacha – sean nós singer

Josie Mac Donnacha is from An Cheathrú Rua in Co. Galway. He grew up listening to the local sean-nós singers of his native area, from which he acquired many of their songs. His repertoire includes songs is Irish, in English and songs from the sean-nós tradition of Gaelic Scotland. Josie also writes some of his own songs and his singing style focuses primarily on the faster and more rhythmic songs from the sean-nós tradition.
Tunes in the Church presents an authentic experience of traditional
Irish music, song and dance. Every night presents a different line-up
of some of the tradition’s most respected artists within the ambiance
of the historical St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, Galway. Attendees
of these concerts are encouraged ask questions of the artists and to
interact with the performers and occasionally they learn the chorus of
a traditional Irish song.
