Traditional Irish Music
The Slow Session is on this Saturday (2/7) afternoon at the New York Irish Center. Drop by to share some tunes and songs - all instruments and skill levels welcome!
The slow session is geared towards learning musicians. If you find a tune to be a bit fast, we can always play it again at a slower pace, just ask. Some of us play with sheet music, but you're encouraged to (try) pick it up by ear as well. There are not many rules, so feel free to play at a slower pace or choose an unknown tune/song. Just make sure you know the entire tune (so others can learn from you).
Location for the Saturday slow session: New York Irish Center, 1040 Jackson Ave, Long Island City. Head downstairs to library.

OTHER GREAT SESSIONS!!.....
DEMPSEY'S - If you want to start playing at a faster pace, you should head over to DEMPSEY'S!! (61 2nd Avenue) on Tuesday nights (8pm onwards). Dempsey's is the longest running Open Session in NYC. GREAT musicians, VERY friendly atmosphere, big space and beer!
Guest Musician line for Dempsey's
Feb 10th - Seagda Coyle
Feb 24th - Liz Hanley
MARY O's - Our good friend Caitlin Warbelow has started a new session! Open to all musicians and skill levels but specifically geared towards beginners and people just entering the session scene in NYC.
So come on down to Mary O's (Ave A @ 3rd Street - East Village) Thursday nights from 9pm-11pm.
Note: There will be NO 7 train running between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square. However there are shuttle buses running very frequently, and will drop you off just a block from the Irish Center! Very easy!! smile emoticon
