Event Description

Os, the stunning debut album from Slow Moving Clouds, showcases a unique contemporary sound, inspired by Irish and Nordic music traditions.

To celebrate the launch of Os, Slow Moving Clouds are performing atThe Grand Social, Dublin, on Thursday 22nd October, with support from Cormac Dermody and Radie Peat of Dublin band Lynched.

Slow Moving Clouds are a new Dublin-based band who draw inspiration from Irish and Nordic music traditions. Their music is based around deconstructing and reworking traditional melodies into dramatic new string arrangements, played on the unique and darkly atmospheric combination of cello, fiddle and nyckelharpa.

Os, the debut album from Slow Moving Clouds, features traditional and original music, ranging from lush cinematic soundscapes through manic angular dance tunes to stately Finnish-language songs.

Slow Moving Clouds are:

-Aki (nyckelharpa, vocals), a Finnish musician and artist who works in media ranging from film to visual art to music production and performance.

-Danny Diamond (fiddle) an Irish fiddle player with a singular sound, combining deep roots in the Irish tradition with an open mind for influences from other cultures.

-Kevin Murphy (cello) a pioneering Irish cellist and multi-instrumentalist with a background in experimental acoustic music.

Admission: €10.00 / Admission + CD copy of Os €15.00
