This 3 week workshop series taught by Aislinn Gagliardi, will cover the diverse life and works of the 17th c. Irish harper and composer Turlough O'Carolan. Each week students will learn a distinctly different tune and its historical/cultural background, alongside relevant anecdotes of this prolific composer's life. Through various audio samples and instructor demonstration, students will also learn the best approach to accompanying and arranging a broad variety of O'Carolan's music appropriate for any instrument. Come to one, two, or all three workshops!
Aislinn Gagliardi is an Irish harpist, composer and teacher who recently released her debut solo album The Thin Place. She has researched the history of the Irish harp and Turlough O'Carolan in depth, and was a featured musician and co-producer of Candace Corrigan's O'Carolan, Songwriter album.
