Traditional Irish Arts of Knoxville (TIAK) presents the 10th Annual Tune Junkie Weekend coming up Friday-Sunday, Feb. 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2018, at the Historic Grove Theater in Oak Ridge, TN and Boyd’s Jig & Reel in Knoxville, TN.
Tune Junkie Weekend is a weekend of Irish music and fun featuring sessions, workshops and a concert. The weekend kicks off on Friday night with a pot luck dinner, open house, ceili dance, and staff session at the Historic Grove Theater in Oak Ridge beginning at 6pm. Come meet the staff and listen to some lively tunes and songs. On Saturday, staff members will be offering workshops in fiddle, vocals, bodhran, Irish Pipes, flute, Irish dance, Irish accompaniment. Additionally, there will be young fiddler’s workshop for children aged 8-12. The workshops are 12-1:45 and held at the Grove Theater. A slow session will follow the workshops to give students a chance to practice the skills they learned in class. The Grove Theater will also be the setting for a 7pm evening concert featuring performances from some of the best finest Irish musicians and bands in the Southeast. Performers include Four Leaf Peat, Sigean, and other regional artists. A session will follow the concert. The weekend winds up with a farewell brunch and session at Boyd’s Jig & Reel in Knoxville, TN.
