Traditional Irish Music
Hi, I would love to learn Traditional Irish Flute but can't seem to find a teacher in my area - Wilmslow. Can anybody help?( I am 47- if that makes a difference!)

Hi Tracy, and welcome to Tradconnect! If you check out the Groups section, there is a group called 'Flute Players'. You might find some help there. You could also contact Tradconnect member Enda Seery. He's doing skype lessons now- http://www.endaseery.com/Skype_Lessons.html
Kind Regards,
Paul
Hiya Tracy,
2 days ago I subscribed to the Online Academy of Irish Music, for their tinwhistle course. I've been exploring the site over the last couple of days, and I have to say, I'm impressed....the video tutorials are very good, and the teachers are doing a great job. Anyway, they also have an extensive Irish Flute course on their site, so I suggest, give it a try...You can subscribe for a 7 day free trial, so if you don't like it, no harm done....the full subscription in my opinion is at a reasonable rate too, for 17.95 GBP you have full access to ALL the lessons....And hey, I'm 47 too, great age to learn something new :-)
Just have a look at http://www.oaim.ie/ and subscribe for the 7 day free trial....you can un-subscribe at any time
cheers, Kees, Netherlands
Hi Tracy. There aren't many irish trad teachers around here. I've been having lessons from Mat Walklate (http://www.matwalklate.co.uk) who lives in Sale Moor. He is a great musician ( flute, harmonica, pipes) playing irish traditional music in a band called The House Devils, and a very friendly supportive teacher - I wish I hadn't struggled by myself for so long. Online lessons are great but nothing beats a one-to-one.
Roger
I will happily take you as a student via Skype!
