I thought it was interesting watching this Planxty documentary blog that the viewers for Part 1 were over 30,000. Now as this was the type of Youtube clip that you would probably only watch once is this some indicator of the worldwide numbers that play traditional Irish music. Assuming that say 10% of the trad population came across the clip there could be a total number of worldwide players of 300,000. Any ideas folks on how to put a number on it?

God, forgot about this one - thanks Tony & Lars for reminding me!
In answer to your question Tony, I think the 12000 who viewed all of them may be a more accurate figure but that only accounts for Planxty fans! Trad fans I think number much greater - there still are a number who don't consider Planxty true trad (not me). The real question is how many actually play as oppose to listen? Every one of these are potential artists & need to be encouraged - this site can p rovide them with a platform to engage with others of a similar level & get together with others to practice & get to the standard required to attend Sessions with confidence in their own ability. Give it a while & when Tradconnect reaches 300000 you'll have your answer!
