Dont know much about the hurdy gurdy. Perhaps you can educate me. Thanks


One of the most informative places you can visit on the internet is Neil Brook's site.  Neil is a maker and player from Lancashire, and he's got a page on playing Irish music on this instrument!  I also play whistle, but the gurdy is my favorite!

Hi Judith, yes I have a Hurdy Gurdy myself.


I got it because my wife & I play in costume at Medieval type events & at local Castles & Hostoric Monuments, during the Summer & folks always love it, cause it's so unusual.


I actually have a page on it, on my own website about it & below that link, is one to a video of four of us playing up here in costume, on the Causeway Coast, at a Medieval Joust.


To be honest though, I don't play Irish Music on it, but save it for some lovely old French tunes.
