Finally starting to get this discussion thing figured out. Sorry about my learning curve.

Got my next tune arranged and posted for both my website and for a YouTube view. I redid the Farewell to Nova Scotia tune slightly to play better with the Low-D, diatonic harmonica. I tried to harmonize it a bit, but it just sounds better like a hornpipe, and seems to fit the mood better.

There are other Key versions of this tune, but I like the "B-minor" as it seems to give it a bit of mystery. And ... like all folk music, the sheet music is more of a "notional" guide. I start it off slow, as an air, and then pick up the pace for the lyrics. You can find the lyrics for "Farewell to Nova Scotia" on my website.

Here's my Youtube Version

It's all fun.

Beautiful song and one I play quite often here. Here's another one for you, "Squid jigging grounds". If you're in for a nice slow tune, you might find "The sea peoples" on youtube. These are all songs about seafarers. Beautiful choice of songs.Wishing you a Happy New Year   Patrick. If you have a chance make them sing and dance. Best of the night to you my friend.

Thanks Normand.

Sharing music and stories is best part of the "Keltoi" traditions. The little diatonic harmonicas really help to do that, eh?

I'm looking those suggestions up now. Thanks.

Your friend,

Shaun, That KelticDead Guy.

Great playing there Shaun! From my perspective, I would prefer it without any reverb or delay, purely accoustic sounds fit trad music better for me. But that doesn't affect your playing in any way which, as I said, is most excellent.

Thanks Boyen. I'll try to tone down the other samples I pass along.   -- We Irish Texans have different ways of doin' things, eh?

Hope the examples help folk see that the little "out of the box" diatonic harmonicas are pretty versatile.

It's all fun.

Your bud, "Shaun" -- That KelticDead Guy.

Beautiful rendition of this song Patrick, specially when you play it faster. Your harmonica playing is clear and beautiful. All this to say that if you played this song in a tavern around here, you could rest assured that you would have free beer on the table. You should post your video here on Tradconnect where it could be enjoyed by everyone. Wishing you the best of the day and also a Happy New Year and be rational with the punch...loll it sure will be a pleasure to hear from you again Patrick.
