Traditional Irish Music
Back in the '60s a few pals of mine and I started a Celtic band with fiddle, guitar, harp, drum, whistle, banjo, and the occasional guest player. It was at the time of when Irish music was becoming popular with the like of The Irish Rovers (Canadian by the way) and such. We named ourselves Duana Cheilteach (my gran came up with it for us) which loosely translated means Celtic Song.
Back in 2009 I was toying with the idea of returning to my "roots" in music that of Irish/Celtic folk. I am happy to say that new life is being breathed back into the name. Right now I am a solo performer with the odd friend showing up to help out. There has been quite an interest from other folk to join in. So it looks like a dream is being relived.
So now it's going into 2012 and already signed up for 4 gigs between Jan and
April. They are at senior' residences, but instead of going as me, it is now as Celtic Song, local Thunder Bay "truly" Irish "band".
May your dreams become a reality in 2012.
