Hi Eric,

In answer to your question, no, I've NEVER seen anything like that before! - you could be onto a real winner with that as you make it sound sooooo good.

The only slight drawback I see is that they don't appear to be tuneable, having no head joint.

Would the same principle work for high whistles I wonder?

I find the concept very interesting, and wish you luck with them.

Hi Mike,
In principle, the Open Whistle does not need to be tunable (such as the accordion or concertina) but when you play with people who do not want to adjust, that becomes a problem. For this reason, I am currently working on a tunable model...

Hi Eric,

Glad to hear your working on a tuneable version. It is a must as I'm sure they will drift in and out of concert pitch due to changes in temperture. I think these are really interesting Eric, and a new and unique addition to the whistle market - a real piece of "thinking outside the box" innovation.

Again though, would this work for a high whistle version? If your manufacturing these, I think thats where the higher volume of your sales would come from.

I have testing with a small diameter tube for a tin whistle in Bb. The sound is really loud but the embouchure is so thin that it is difficult to play.

I have to find another technique ...
