Traditional Irish Music
With St Patricks Day coming up I am just wondering what people around the world are doing for it. Do you attend a parade, a festival or session. Is there any more music in your area on this day, or is it a day that fills you with dread. Let us know what's going on in your part of the world.

Very busy day planned. Gig from 2 to 5 , Ireland v England @5 then another gig @ 7.
In Helsingborg (Sweden, Skane) at a place called Pub-Ro we have a session at St Patricks Day in the evening, everyone is welcome ;O) (beware, this place is small so dont come to late)
Helping the local kids (my students included) to play a couple of tunes at the mass at the local church. One of the tunes being "St Patrick's Day in the morning" - set-dance. In the afternoon will go and enjoy our local parade in the town of Kilrush, then have a gig in Moyasta with Matt (who plays guitar and sings) and Breda Laethum who plays bodhrán and sings also. Should be a great day!
yes, we got a local festival www.wspf.info here in Tasmania, Australia. Some trad music on the two stages and a Session being held in the afternoon. all the best Louisa Cantlay
Gig with The Táin , hopefully good tunes and good craic as usual :)
It's the England Ireland match, naturally. That's Rugby Union for those not aware of life. Then in the evening, Swinging the Lead are playing at the Crofton Pub in Stubbington. The Landlord has a function room and he's charging £20 a head for an "Irish" menu followed by us assassinating music for the punters! Apart from that, I'll be enjoying the craic and winding up the audience. I'll wear my Ireland rugby shirt and sing me head off when I'm not playing!
Working -3:30pm til 10pm -Typical!!
Playing Mulligan's in Toulouse with Skippy on 16th and 17th from 22:30 to 02:00 both nights.
After the last of the punters are out it gets good.
Have fun everybody!
I have a gig at a private house party from 1 to 3 PM and a dance party in the evening with friends.
I have 7 St. Patrick's-related gigs scheduled: A parade followed by a fundraising concert Saturday morning with my pipe band. 4 gigs with my celtic rock band, starting Thursday and Friday night in Kalamazoo, Michigan, winding up in Grand Rapids for a late lunch gig on Saturday, and onto Holland to finish out the night. (Then, if we're truly nuts, we'll head back to Grand Rapids Sunday night for their session.) The following weekend our family band, a traditional Irish group, though none of us is Irish, is playing a concert at a museum.
I'll love every minute of it, though I'm praying none of my band leaders decide to schedule anything else; they're all prone to trying to pick up last minute gigs.
