Does anybody have any ideas as to what I can use to hold all my whistles in. I'm currently using an artists tube, but the lid always falls off and it's awkward to carry.

I need something that can fit a roll case with all my whistles in, I've been looking at small pipe cases, but they seem a bit excessive. I did think a wooden practice chanter would work but I can only find one which is 3" wide and I don't think this would be big enough. The case will need to be 23" in length.

I'm getting a new full set of whistles so want to keep them protected as well as possible!

Thanks,

Cairistìona

Hi Cairistiona

I used to have a set of smallpipes, and I used to store it in a badminton racket-bag....very cheap and kept the pipes well protectected...

cheers, Kees

Hi Cairistiona,

I had an idea some time ago that used to work well for carrying them about on stage. I used to use an old archery quiver that attached to a belt around my waist. I'll bet ebay would turn one up for you. When not in use, the whole quiver of whistles could just be placed inside a well padded case.

Might be best to consider a case that had a compartment for keeping other related and useful bits and pieces, like cleaning tackle and set lists etc etc. Then you would have everything all in one place and easy to hand.

Regards,

Mike

One source for whistle bags can be found here.

You could get a rifle case and put padded foam inside of it and lay each of your whistles out in it and it would be protected from moving around from the foam pressing together on both sides of it. It would be pretty big to lug around with you, though. Good if traveling though. Otherwise, a roll case is pretty good as is.

Also, on Colin Goldie's website he sells something that's a bit easier to carry around that has slots for low whistles and high whistles. It's a pretty big case , but has a strap I believe and can hold about any key of whistle, quite a few of them. It zips shut so you don't have to worry about them falling out. I thought about buying one of those myself. That might suit your needs pretty well.

Ah, here's the link to where you can purchase it . http://www.colingoldie.de/accessories.html  It can hold any whistle low C or higher.

Hi, Use a piece of PVC Pipe cut to lenght, Use fusion paint to paint either orange or green pending on where you live in Ireland. Buy two  end caps for the PVC pipe. You can get away with a very minimal amount of money. The inside can be made of molded sponge to carry wiring. This leaves enough space to store one pipe. As a handle, A yellow piece of polypropylene rope can be used  as a carrying handle. The whole thing can be put together in ten minutes after you get the required materials. Best of the day to you.
