Hi Guys, Please Check out my bodhran playing on my NEW tune
"Water Charge"
This is a bit of a rare duck. It's a 13 year old Albert Alfonso 16" bodhran. While this is technically what would be considered a "red" drum model, as you can see it is not red, but this drum was made several years before Albert started making what he refers to as his "blonde" drum. It is the same as a "red" drum in everything but color. This is a raw goatskin with six tuning posts.
One of our colleagues posted this most interesting article on the bodhran's unique position in Irish trad: http://tradconnect.com/profiles/blogs/the-bodhr-n-a-driving-force-i...
Hi all,
I'm sad to say that my lovely red Metloef was robbed last week here in Spain. I've had it since 2008, so it was well played in.
If anyone happens to come across it, I'd appreciate if you let me know.
A follow up to Pawel's comment about Rob Forkner's new signature bodhran. The head of these drums is kangaroo. This skin, properly treated as Rob does, gives a wide range of tonal possibilities. You can hear Patrycja Napierala play this drum on her website. Go to this link and scroll down. An impressive sound out of a 14 inch diamter drum. I have one on order. Should be here by the end of June :) http://patrycjanapierala.pl/bodhran-eng/
I just want everyone to now that Rob Forkner have a brand new signature line of bodhrans. These are signed by Partycja Napierala (best bodhran player in Poland).
More details here : http://patrycjanapierala.pl/bodhran-eng/ .
The one and only deerskin bodhrán i have heard so far sounded quite 'wet'. A warm bassy sound, but i missed the clicky tipper sound of goatskin.
Still, to each their own :)
