Looks really interesting, is that a new book? I love his playing
As far as i know it is a newly published book.
Yes, his powerful playing is indeed awe-inspiring!
Just a quick review - got this book (as requested!) as a Christmas present and find it a great tool for enhancing my own playing but also will be recommending it to my flute students. It is more suitable for adult or teen players but the principles can still be used for teaching younger players. Lovely explanations of breathing/phrasing/ornamentation with a cd of clips to back them up.
It came within a couple of days (within Ireland). Worth having in your store of books even if an established player.
Very pleased
Ps Conal's character comes out in the writing too!

Exciting! My copy is in the mail a.t.m.
I will write a short review after evaluating it too.
Markus Tullberg, good friend of mine, and a very good flute player likes it, for what its worth (i don't think he needs it though)
Great Lars, looking forward to your thoughts.

I recently purchased this book after seeing rave reviews on the Chiff and Fipple Forum.
I already have Larsens book and didn't much care for it, not that the info is bad just, well hard to get through.
Conols book is concise, and brilliant, and tells a story too.
Its a pleasure to read and learn from.
I'd recommend it whole heartedly for other noobs.
best, maki
I bought the book and it has been helpful. Then I found out that Conal O'Grada is going to be the flute instructor at an Irish Music retreat I am planning on attending in October. Even better! I have the Grey Larsen book as well, and I listen to recordings. I really am feeling the need to learn from an actual person however. I seem to be kind of dense sometimes and I feel like I am definitely missing something between the basic instruction CDs and listening to an accomplished irish flutist. I need to be taught and have that "ahh" or "duh" moment. This will be my first music retreat.
Hi Danna,
Which Irish Music retreat are the referring to?
Thanks
Ian
