Today, I had the priviledge to play with The Prospect Road group in a place called: SS Atlantic Memorial park in Terence Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, a small community situated near the ocean. I thought I would share this experience with you. We played for two hours. The group was made mostly of singers accompanying themselves with their guitars and a few instrumentalists, namely fiddlers and yours truly on the harmonica. This was an outdoor session and the amplification was just right. The music could be heard in the whole area and the peoples from this location seemed to enjoy the session very well. When came my turn to go on the mike, I played "I'm sick and tired of working" which invited quite a few laughs when I mentionned the name of the song. Their was a lot of applauses. When came my turn again, I played "The cock of the North". You could see the feet keeping the rythm with the music. What a nice experience. Now, a little bit of history about this Memorial park: The SS Atlantic was a passenger liner sailing in 1812. One night as she was running out of coal, she headed for Halifax in order to replenish her holds so she could continue her voyage. She didn't make it and ran aground causing many passengers and crew to meet their demise, hence the park that stands there today. What a difference when people participate in a session. This makes it so much easier to deliver a nice performance. I raise my hat and my beer to the peoples of Terence Bay for being such a nice audience. This is all I had to say... Just tought I had to say something. Best of the day to you all, Sincerely, Norm

Sounds like an amazing experience! I've never done an outside session but I'd love to. I know from myself that "street musicians" always create a special experience and atmosphere for me.

If I could, pictures of this session were taken. I would gladly share them with you and all our friends but I haven't got the slightest clue on how to transfer them to you.
