I'd also love (LOVE) to start learning the fiddle on a basic level, and have very little Irish guitar background (just play quite moderately w/non-Irish music right now), so also would love to learn more of that.

I'm planning to move to Selma, Alabama soon, so anyone that knows anyone involved w/Irish music around there, please let me know.

Hello Brendan,

I am a beginner 2 row melodeon player myself. Unfortunately, I have not had much practice time recently. When I started out I talked to the guys at McNamara's pub in East Nashville. At the time they had a weekly session with other Trad musicians. I think Josh Culley (bodhran/flute/accordion/guitar) hinted that they were a pretty set group and I would probably do more spectating than learning. I also found a beginners session that played outside of Nashville but I can no longer remember where... Ashland City, maybe?

Sorry that I can't be more help. Best of luck moving to Selma, AL. I hope you find a great community and a few trad players there.

Take care,
