Interesting, always curious about Greek language and its origins, fairly close to the first alphabet.... Recently ordered a beginners CD to continue study on my own ! In my living room are the mounted letters in archaic Greek capitals for "in the beginning was the word'
definitely know the name of Stacy and heard it many times on TV, but cannot place him exactly. We do the Louisville Irish fest every year at Bellarmine University in September.
I do play the Bodhran on occasion, but no guitar, used to play the drums 50 years ago too. I do have a fiddle in storage that I keep for learning in the future should I have the time.... Several songs include Meaghers Irish Brigade in them, including a verse from "No Irish Need Apply" and Paddys Lament, if I remember correctly....
Sounds like some great experiences Dave, I got into actively singing The really old songs in Irish about 8 years ago or so, and then the trad songs in English of late. There is of course an unlimited supply of songs to choose from, so a never ending endeavor. I got into it as a result of writing numerous books on Irish History and genealogy. One day I saw the words 'sean nós' (old style) in historical context and that sparked my initial interest. Good to hear from you. -Mike
