I will firstly appologise that I've not been contributing much lately, but now that I have your attention :-) I'm not seeing very much detail of late about members actually meeting up and sharing a…Continue

Hi all !!!!! I just thought I would mention something that I have been doing since pretty much the day I joined Tradconnect - in case it had not crossed the mind of other members. I think Tony (the…Continue

I thought I would ask for help concerning best and most effective use of practice time. Many days I batter away for hours on end and seem to get no benefit from it. On other occassions I can have the…Continue

I seem to have been locked firmly into "slow airs mode" over the past few weeks. Must be something to do with the cold weather and the dark winter nights! That is largely what has inspired this…Continue
Mike "Ormepipes" Orme has not received any gifts yet
My Utube channel was started so that I could upload stuff on here. As Tradconnect is all about connecting, I thought it only fair to let other members know what to expect. For anyone who is interested, here is a link to my Utube channel.

I welcome all feedback on my efforts and am delighted to give out information about any of the tunes I play. As I spend most of my time playing alone, it really is a great pleasure to hear from other musicians.

This documentary footage was sent to me by Tradconnect members, The O’Carolan Harp Festival. I’ve posted a copy into the Carolan group but feel that this needs a higher profile amongst our general membership. The film shows some of the events and attractions of the festival held in Keadue (County Roscommon) and gives a great flavour of…

Well, this one is bit different. I found this French accordian tune and fell in love with it. I was actually on the Tradconnect live chat section at the time I found it, sharing tunes, swapping links etc - as usual!
Once learned however, I was about to throw it out because it did'nt actually seem to go where I wanted it to.
Queue Dulahan to the rescue!
Another large slice of Kildare sourcery and the excellent playing skills of Joe and Adele have saved it. Thanks…

Having recently submitted a video of my solo whistle version, It was picked up by my good friend Joe Greene (1/2 of Dulahan) who decided that, for once, my timing was steady enough for him to do something with it.
The end result is this bit of collaberation. Whistle being played in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Guitar coming from Kildare in Ireland. The images were found by me and added by Joe.
I find the whistle too difficult most days so all the technical…

It can indeed be a great combination provided the guitarist has some degree of sensitivity. Took me years to learn that.
That's a real shame Mike. Do you know any local musicians/sessions?
Mike. I have just moved to Chesterfield. I play guitar, Tenor guitar, Tenor Banjo and Mandola. I have played semi pro in bands for many years and am looking for sessions and local musicians to play with.
I have sent you a friend request.
Hope to meet you soon.
Regards
Gordon Taylor
OK Mike, hope you had a good time. I keep promising to get to the White Lion in the evening, preferably when it's a session, At least tomorrow I will find out how long the walk is from the rail station.
Thanks for the encouragement Mike, I'll have to think about that one!! Glad to hear you are still in the land of the living. The chat room has been fairly quiet without you of late. Will catch up with you soon hopefully. Take care for now. P
Thanks for the welcome Mike! :)
Thanks so much Mike! You're the best!
Hiya Mike, It was a real treat having a little fun with you in the chatroom the other day. Been occupied for a while but now I'm back. It's great to see how your Turlough O'Carolan Group has turned out. V E R Y I M P R E S S I V E!!!! (I'm excited & jealous of your accomplshments) You should be very proud of the response to the group and your growing numbers in membership. I imagine you're still siiting in your kitchen practicing, practicing, practicing,.....although with all I see of your interaction with TradConnect I wonder how you find the time. Very happy for you, mate!!!! Have a blessed Christmas & to you and your family and wonderful and prosperous New Year. Cheers & good health to you, Mike.
Danny
