Your current style seems very much like where I came from. If I may comment:

"Volume, clear unambiguous chords..."

Do not stray from this, especially when there is more than one guitar played together. If you are the only backup instrument you can get away with about anything. But if you have 3 or more guitars going their own way - well, it reminds of a pit full of snakes. ;-)

"...a strong 'percussion' rhythm..."

Again, don't loose this, especially if there is no bodhran or other percussive instrument in the session.

And from a personal view, listen to all the other styles and take the bits and pieces you like and make your own style. Don't let anyone else control your playing with a "That's not traditional," sneer. But then, I am an American Yankee of Welsh heritage. You should play with the session, but you can still be yourself. Most of the traditional groups from Ireland that I hear currently don't exactly "toe the mark" either. The biggest Irish music festival in our state was last weekend and I heard a few groups from Ireland play some syncopations that would make Duke Ellington proud.

Hi Rob. Welcome to TradConnect and the backup guitar group. If you already have your own style I would sure like to hear it or hear about it. To hear examples of others styles I suggest you listen to the videos I have posted in the guitar group and use those to lead you to other videos on YouTube.

Hi Robyn,
Sure, there are some options, particularly Sunday and Monday.
