St. Helens, Merseyside

Hi. I'm based in St. Helens, Merseyside and play the 10-string cittern. I've been a part of the Merseyside Irish music scene for the best part of 40 years. My Dad was from Killawalla in County Mayo and in fact a lot of my family are still there - the rest are in Oughterard, County Galway. People I've performed with include most of the Black Family, Niamh Parsons & Graham Dunn, Garva, Ildanach and I was once asked by Christy Moore to sing harmonies on one of his albums ( it never happened…

Hi Tony and Kate, we are still alive, but we moved two times. You know that we are no normal germans. We are like americans, always moving for the jobs and it looks like we are moving again in the next time, we send you the address by snail mail (handwritten letter).

Birgit is again in an agency and i'm still a free worker in marketing things.

But also musician and again in a band. It was a city-event and the makers asked us for a little song on stage.

And now we are the local City-Band. All of us older musicians and from a lot of Countries. Germany, France, Italy, Cameroon (Africa). OK, the two female singers are younger. But not only attractive. They can sing.

Roland is a brilliant Keyboarder and can play Guitar as well. Paolo is a super Drummer and I know him since years.

We have fun practicing and performing and we are the Cityband for our quarter  in Seligenstadt.

OK, I am 12 KM away on the other side of the Main in Bavaria now. Far away from the house in what we met the last time. But that was just a coincidence that all of us met together so long ago. But a good thing!

We saw today a documentation in TV about the secretary of the beatles. Lot of pictures from Liverpool in the old days. Not the same on the pictures that i made in Liverpool so far ago.

Anyway i have more than 40 slide cases from Liverpool and Ireland from this time far ago and you are on some pictures as well. We are very proud to met you in this older times and very happy to have you all as friends all over this years.

My Aunt Mary in Cambridge and my cousince would be very astount about that. I never told them.

Had I told you, that we have relatives in England? No, or?

OK, we are musicians, we don't talk, we play.

We'll see us.

Hi Tony,

You will be made very welcome if you come back to Nerja. At the moment there are Sunday sessions in the Irish Harp bar, but the venue may change. There is a great Irish  music scene  here, along the coast towards Malaga and beyond, and alternate Sundays a session in Granada. Tell your friend in Malaga there are  early Friday sessions at the Irish affair, Torremolinos and some of our group play on Fridays later at the Irish Times, Malagueta. If he is interested get him to contact us on pmiddleton.com and we'll let him know what is going on. Our Nerja session tends to be mixed Irish, English, French, depending on who's about. The Granada one is tunes only. We are a wonderful mixture of Spanish, Irish, English, American ... and you never quite know who is going to turn up. At the end of this month several of the foreigners will be off for the summer so numbers may be thin at Nerja. At the moment we are in UK till end of the month.

Good to make contact with you and we look forward to meeting you!   Pippa
