Tradconnect was established in 2011 as an independent traditional music channel that connects musicians globally. Since then the site has experienced phenomenal growth.

Over the 12 months of 2014 Tradconnect received 530,000 page hits from 135,000 users and every day we receive close to 1,000 unique visits.

Tradconnect’s goal has been to create a strong independent channel that allows musicians to access a global audience. This we have achieved, and as our numbers continue to demonstrate, we are growing in strength and popularity by the day.

We Are Not Your Friends : Yes that’s right, we are not your friends or to be more precise we are not your Facebook friends, and this believe it or not, is one of the many advantages of being part of Tradconnect.

Have a look at your Facebook friends and you will find that most of them are fellow musicians.  These friends are great for keeping in touch with what is happening in the industry but are not necessarily the audience of fans that you should be trying to reach.

The truth is that most people are constrained by the reach of their Facebook marketing and are looking for ways to connect with a wider audience.  Just because your news stream is full of trad news, don’t assume that the average fan is seeing the same content as you.  They are not.

Welcome to your new audience : Visit Tradconnect and you can see all the content posted.  Over 135,000 people visited Tradconnect over the last 12 months, so that’s a lot of people that you may be missing out on.  Every week we email our 6,000 members with a very concise newsletter.  Writers, broadcasters and other bloggers visit our pages to find out what is happening and they in turn write about it.  So if you want to reach a whole new audience then all you need to do is engage with us.

How to access this new channel : To access this new channel there are a number of things that you can do.

  • Firstly join up and add your events, album launches, videos, community events etc.  Use our blog section to write more detailed content and send us your albums by post or digitally via Dropbox.

  • Secondly write to us.  Most content on the site comes from people who write and inform us about their events, tours, new videos and Soundcloud uploads.  Send us some detailed content with your email to provide us with some additional insight.  We have limited resources to do what we do so the more you give, the better.  Make the content original - no cut and paste.

  • Remember, growing your fanbase outside of your Facebook friends is important. Engage with Tradconnect and you are entering our news stream and engaging with our 100,000+ readers.  So connect today and say hello to a whole new audience.

You can contact us at this address.

Album Review : Cormac Begley

Posted on August 2, 2017 at 10:00 0 Comments

The seeds for this remarkable album were sown many years ago when Cormac Begley recorded a duet album with Jack Talty called Na Fir Bolg.

That album, recorded in St. Nicholas Collegiate Church, Galway, was a revelation.  For this solo outing, Cormac is back in the same church with Jack Talty on the recording and mixing…

Album Review : Conor Caldwell & Danny Diamond / North

Posted on November 8, 2016 at 10:30 0 Comments

Taking older and simpler tunes and finding new avenues of expression, is at the heart of North, a very fine collection of fiddle music from Belfast-born musicians Conor Caldwell and Danny Diamond.

Last year Diamond released an acclaimed solo fiddle album called…

Album Review : Goitse / Inspired By Chance

Posted on June 27, 2016 at 12:30 0 Comments

'Inspired by Chance' is the latest release by a band that have always had a very distinctive sound.  The fresh and spacious approach to their arrangements, the free roving banjo of James Harvey, and the duets within tracks set them apart. Reflective interludes and melodies that momentarily suspend in mid-air, in search of wider vistas…

Album Review : Kern / False Deceiver

Posted on June 9, 2016 at 6:00 0 Comments

Louth band Kern have delivered a debut album of real merit with False Deceiver.

It is so difficult these days to make a traditional folk album that stands out from the crowd, and that is what Kern have unquestionably achieved in this instance.

What drives it is a combination of many…

Hi Tony, I posted a small video on Tradconnect and it has been pending approval for a long time now. Is there something I need to know? I heard "Off to Dublin in the green" from the Irish Rovers who were very popular in Canada and contributed to spreading Irish music throughout the Country. When I played it, I mentioned a bit about the story of the song and I only played it as entertainment. Could you please advise> Thanks. The site has been growing very well and this is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
