Album Review : Florence Fahy / Tunes from the Flaggy Shore

Posted on April 11, 2018 at 13:30 0 Comments

It is no surprise that one of the best traditional albums of late, once again features concertina. This debut release by Co Clare musician Florence Fahy stands shoulder to shoulder with the best that Clare has to offer. The concertina more than any instrument seems to capture the essence of the music, and Florence Fahy, now…

Album Review : Cormac Begley

Posted on August 2, 2017 at 10:00 0 Comments

The seeds for this remarkable album were sown many years ago when Cormac Begley recorded a duet album with Jack Talty called Na Fir Bolg.

That album, recorded in St. Nicholas Collegiate Church, Galway, was a revelation.  For this solo outing, Cormac is back in the same church with Jack Talty on the recording and mixing…

Taking older and simpler tunes and finding new avenues of expression, is at the heart of North, a very fine collection of fiddle music from Belfast-born musicians Conor Caldwell and Danny Diamond.

Last year Diamond released an acclaimed solo fiddle album called…

Hi Tony, I posted a small video on Tradconnect and it has been pending approval for a long time now. Is there something I need to know? I heard "Off to Dublin in the green" from the Irish Rovers who were very popular in Canada and contributed to spreading Irish music throughout the Country. When I played it, I mentioned a bit about the story of the song and I only played it as entertainment. Could you please advise> Thanks. The site has been growing very well and this is quite an accomplishment. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
