Oh well, maybe i should sit down and play "March of the king of Laoise" in the meantime : )
Got a Macassar bodhrán tipper from Christian Hedwitschak today so a little comfort there, feels pretty awesome too!

There are artists out there like Fiach Moriarty and Michele Ann Kelly who make nice pop rock tunes but still incorporate that Irish flavor in terms of guest musicians. Traditional instruments have found their way into modern radio format more and more and I think this is further encouraged by movies. The recent movie by Colin Farell called Undine featured Sharon Shannon as a funeral musician.
I think this is great because it encourages more and more musicians playing…Continue
Now i have tracking number for the Sam Murray flute, yay! Checked 'AnPost' website:
I have been bringing out old CDs and MP3s again. It is a weekend and as usual it is a blast from the past.If I look at my Clannad catalog I realize it will take me hours upon hours just to listen to everything they recorded, from full length albums to compilations and EPs. Most people probably think that we you say Irish traditional music, it means a kind of music that is mournful and something that you play on funerals. Will they can't be really wrong. But that is just one fourth of the…Continue

I'm new to traditional music. I've always loved music, pretty much any type. I went to a Celtic Festival several years ago and fell in love with traditional music. Three years ago I decided to learn to play the fiddle - a rather large goal considering my age and the fact that we did not have any type of musicians in the family. My brother plays guitar, and makes guitars, but that was after I was…Continue

I have a keyless 'D' concert flute by Sam Murray in the making, and it's 14 days overdue delivery.
I was concerned and didn't get a reply to my mails so phoned Sam yesterday. He explained to me that his son/s do all the internet/mail communication, and Sean was away at the moment, hence no answer to my mails.
He told me to rest assured i will get the flute sometime next week, the reason for the delay was that he wasn't quite happy with one of the sections, so he made a new one…Continue

My name is Emily, and I play the fiddle, mandolin, and some guitar. I play some Irish music, and really enjoy listening to it.
I am the 6th child of 10. I live out in the country, love being outside, and during the summer, I enjoy swimming a lot. I am learning to ride horses at my neighbor's, and am also helping her to train one of her green-broke horses. Once a month, my sisters and I play music for the hymns at Church. I am very devoted the the Lord, and am extremely…Continue

Started thinking today, after a mail conversation with Christian Hedwitschak, a nice funny dude btw, about development in technology etc. and arrived at the conclusion that for me personally it doesn't get any better than the following clip, featuring basically no-frills instruments, just loads of skill.…Continue
