I will never pay for the “privilege” of playing for the public.

More than once, I have been asked to play my Great Highland Bagpipes at a fund raising event, only to show up at the gate and be asked to pay the cover charge to get in. Fortunately, in each case, I was able to get hold of someone in charge and bypass the gate fee. One fellow musician even came up to me and told me I was…

St. Helens, Merseyside

Hi. I'm based in St. Helens, Merseyside and play the 10-string cittern. I've been a part of the Merseyside Irish music scene for the best part of 40 years. My Dad was from Killawalla in County Mayo and in fact a lot of my family are still there - the rest are in Oughterard, County Galway. People I've performed with include most of the Black Family, Niamh Parsons & Graham Dunn, Garva, Ildanach and I was once asked by Christy Moore to sing harmonies on one of his albums ( it never happened…

Last Nights Fun

We took  a short trip to Dublin last night and had some tunes with Tradconnect host Tony Lawless.

It was a wonderful night of music. Tony and his fellow musicians made us feel right at home from the very beginning.  They had a wonderful selection of tunes which were expertly played and the night went by all too quickly for us!

We are happy to report that Tradconnect does exactly what it says on the tin by giving us the opportunity to meet up with people who share a common…
