The Sean Nós Gathering, Kansas USA, April 23 - 25. ( Song, Dance, Music )

Starting tomorrow 23rd April we are launching the first event of it's kind in the Kansas City Area.  A 4 day mini- festival with old style and sean nós dance instruction;  Sean nós and trad song; and musicians sessions.  The sessions and lessons are open, public and free, and beginners are most welcome...

Five locations are involved.  Weds. at The Celtic Ranch in nearby Weston, Missouri; Thurs. at Conroys Public House in Overland Park; Friday at Browne's Irish Market (the oldest Irish owned family business in the U.S.); Saturday at both The Folk Alliance; and Mikes Tavern. The latter 3 are in Kansas City proper.  The details and sign in page are at:

On Friday there will be a remembrance of the Irish Music revival of the 1980's in the area, with some of the early local musicians on hand.  We will also have an internet broadcast Friday at 7:00 with local singers who know a song in Irish, including sean nós style.  A definite first here.  All you need is a computer. The ConcertWindow address is:

All are invited to attend and help spread the word !

I will tell the musicians in Northwest Arkansas tonight at session. It is late notice so I doubt any will make it up. If you have it again next year let me know and maybe some of us can get up there. I hope it goes well have a great time!
