60 Tunes Arranged for Fiddle by Paul McNevin

Tradconnect member Paul McNevin is a fiddle player and teacher that in well know in Dublin and beyond and has been teaching fiddle and performing for 20 years. He recently started an Irish traditional music website dedicated to fiddle called www.irishfiddle.ie and it is becoming quite a handy little resource for the fiddler's among us. Best of all he has two downloads of tunes, each with 30 tunes, arranged for fiddle.  Here is the best part. Volume 1 is free and Volume 2 is only €4.47. Now we hate always equating value to the price of a pint but that is what you get here. Volume 1 is presented in basic notation form and Volume 2 has more detailed rolls, grace notes, cuts and some key up and down bow notation.
The tunes provided include some of the best know session tunes. There is a certain comfort in knowing that someone of Paul's calibre has arranged them for fiddle even if the tunes are available elsewhere online. It's the slightly odd notes in other collections that can be so annoying to students learning the music, especially for fiddle. The collections could do with an introduction page explaining some of the notation for those complete beginners which we are sure could be added easily. Either way it's a nice collection and well worth the few euro. Check out his blogs and articles as well for what is developing into a great site for fiddlers. www.irishfiddle.ie
