Jillian LaDage is a 'eclectic' Celtic World Singer/Composer known for her Celtic and Middle Eastern inspired music. Reminiscent of Loreena McKennitt and Enya she is also a pianist and harpist and the owner of the private record label, Tarith Cote.

Enchanted Winter is her second album and features nine seasonal winter pieces alongside lesser known traditional songs with a wide range of musical nuances from Celtic to Middle Eastern. The literary work of Sir Walter Scott’s “Christmas In The Olden Time” set in hauntingly medieval strains lead to the traditional inspired lament “Come Winter Ground” into Middle East dance inspired rhythms of “Bergamask Dance.”

This is the final track from the album called The Snow It Melts The Soonest. Jillian says “the melody seems to have been picked up from a street singer in Newcastle by a Mr Thomas Doubleday, and inserted in a contribution to Blackwood's Magazine in 1821. Though it’s origins certainly date back much farther than that in the oral tradition of the bard.”

On the theme of the album Jillian says: “Out of all the seasons winter perhaps embodies the greatest sense of mystery and wonder. Exploring the diverse celebrations and traditions of this season I hoped to discover what indeed is this enchantment, which is only found during these few months of the year and leads us into quiet contemplative months or joy, and awe.”

In addition to Enchanted Winter which was released last year we also have Jillian’s new single, An Samhradh (St. John’s Eve). In the liner notes to the single she says, “Looking at the many Celtic Fire celebrations in summer’s past I felt lured in by not only the way we celebrate summer now as a modern people but also to the customs of the old ways, Ireland and bonfire night.  Beginning at the Fire Festival of St. John through the solstice and Autumns bounty, An Samhradh features a cinematic call to days gone before.”

The single was recorded on location at the Wyse family farm, Jillian’s childhood home in rural Illinois. “It was my intention to be able to have the essence of where I made summer memories encapsulated into my music one last time before it changed owners.  For that reason I set out to write and record this song at the place I grew up and where music called to me first.”

Enchanted Winter and the single An Samhradh (St. John’s Eve) are now available to purchase from as well as
