Traditional Irish Music
For our Album of the month for May 2013 we are crossing the atlantic to New York for a great release by a group that call themselves The Yanks. A great name and a great album. The Yanks are Dan Gurney on accordion, Dylan Foley on fiddle, Isaac Alderson on uilleann pipes and flute and Sean Earnest on bouzouki and guitar. Both Dan Gurney and Dylan Foley have released debut albums in 2012. First up we had Dan with his Traditional Irish Music on the Button Accordion which we reviewed last year.
Shortly after this Dylan released his debut called Hup! Both were warmly received and showed us two of New York's finest. The other members of the group include Isaac Alderson who is known for his work with Eileen Ivers and Runa and Sean Earnest who has worked with Téada, The McPeake Family and others. For this recording they locked themselves away in what could be described as a no frills studio in the Catskills for a mere three days and came out with this recording. Read Full Review
