So,  at long last I have finally finished putting down all the melody and accompaniment on the forthcoming album.

It has been a long road and all that remains now on the music side is the mixing and mastering, which will also be carried out expertly by Sean Og Graham of Beoga in the next 2/3 weeks.

Other than that it's all the other things to finalise such as photography (which is being carried out by the professional hands of Damien Stenson of Teada), promotion, album printing (for availability first week in March) and launch and other concert date finalisations.

The first launch date, which has just been confirmed today, will take place in Culturlann McAdam O Fiaich in Belfast on Saturday, 5th April and will feature the great guest talents of Donal Mc Cague (TG4 Young Musician of the Year 2013), Belfast native John Mc Sherry (At First Light, The Olllam, Lunasa, Coolfin), Ryan O Donnell (Banjo, Bouzouki) and Darragh Murphy (Pipes, Whistles - Sharon Corr Band).

All of these huge talents have thankfully contributed to my album in very meaningful ways and I'm really really looking forward to this launch. It's always a great city in which to play Irish Traditional Music.

Another launch date is in the pipeline for Galway for June time and this should be finalised in the coming week all going well so check back in for updates on that front.

Other than launch dates, I have some lovely concert dates coming up in March time with Brian Mc Grath and my brother Donal in a trio setting, with that being sometimes augmented by Maggie Carty on voice and banjo too!. These will be a real pleasure as I've been playing in concert and informal sessions with Brian since 2005 and we, along with Donal and Maggie, share a very common and enjoyable interest in a certain delivery and style of Irish Music.

Its always relaxed and easy going playing with Brian  - the way it should be when playing music really, I suppose, otherwise what's the point I wonder?!

Hopefully this will be the start of a fruitful trio setting for us in the coming period.

A couple of these concerts are provisionally penned in for the Ulster region in late March with one in Mayo also to be confirmed.

It looks like it's all set up to be a busy first 6 months of 2014, if not the entire year!
