Traditional Irish Music
This is pretty good music from Mike Considine and should appeal to all you bouzouki and tenor banjo players out there. Have a listen to the tracks on his website as well. Ingenious stuff that is very polished indeed. Don't know why we haven't come across his name before, but now that we have we will have to explore a bit more.
Now based in Hollywood, with roots in The Burren region of Co.Clare, Mike Considine is a self-taught musician who plays by ear and has an intuitive knowledge of melody, harmony, rhythm and syncopation. His specialty is the Irish bouzouki and tenor guitar. He has appeared in concerts and tours with some of Ireland's finest musicians including John Carty, Cormac Breatnach, Tommy Peoples, Dermot Byrne, Brian McGrath, Alan Kelly, Sean Smyth, Brendan Larrissey, John Faulkner and Mary Shannon.
He spent 13 years in New Zealand where he was an integral member of the groups Rua, Claddagh and The Wylde Takafoleys. He recorded numerous projects with many of New Zealand’s finest musicians including cutting edge producer, Jody Lloyd (Trillion). Together they produced “Bazuki Joe” – an Irish / Pacifica hybrid sound and Mike won two New Zealand music awards for his work with Claddagh and flautist, Brendyn Montgomery.
