Traditional Irish Music
My friend Jimmy has been posting a lot of music from Brittany. I love Breton music because it is Celtic but has a distinctive flavour. I know my other friend Christi will agree with me on this. I see music as colour. When I listen to Irish music, I see green(well it is obvious isn't it?) for Scottish it is blue and for Brittany it has an olive green feel with an almost golden brown tinge. It is fun to associate because it makes you see a lot of things in your head while hearing the music.
I remember getting a copy of the Celtic Wedding album of The Chieftains featuring the music of Brittany. It has a distinctive feel and way of playing. The Chieftains have been involved in a lot of genre spanning Bluegrass and even Classical music. They also 'exposed' other artists from other regions like Carlos Nunez who is from Galicia Spain.
These days I have been going back to my Alan Stivell albums and marveling at the richness of traditions that spans continents bring everyone together regardless of age, sex, and race.
