Ceol na Coille Trad Summer School, Donegal, 11th-15th July 2016

Registration is now open for the Ceol na Coille Traditional Music Summer School 2016 in Letterkenny, Co Donegal – and again is expected to attract record numbers.
Celebrating its 5th year, the trad week runs from Monday 11th July to Friday 15th July, with a stellar line up of tutors and performers. The programme this year includes sessions, concerts, recitals and master classes with more events to be added to the weeklong celebration of traditional music.

The summer school features classes in a whole range of instruments for all ages and abilities and is once again delighted to be based in the impressive new Coláiste Ailigh Irish-medium secondary school in Letterkenny. There are classes to suit all enthusiasts, from beginner to advanced including a very successful ‘Introduction to Irish Music Class’ for young children wishing to get started.


Schoolteachers can attend a CPD (Continuous Personal Development) course during the week called ‘Traditional Irish Music – an integrated approach to Irish Music pedagogy”.

Over twenty tutors have already been lined up for Ceol na Coille. Some top names in traditional music from all over Ireland are onboard this year including- Padráig McGovern and Ciarán MacFheidhlimidh -Uilleann Pipes, Clodagh Warnock, Paul Bradley and Roisin Harrigan – Fiddle, Danny Collins-Piano, Martin Quinn-Accordion, John Lee-Flute and Micheal Carey-Whistle and Sabina McCague-Harp. Ceol na Coille Summer School will precede a big weekend of music in Letterkenny, part of the Earagail Arts Festival – The 2nd Donegal International Folk and Roots Festival from Thursday 14th July – Monday 18th
