Traditional Irish Music
CÒIG is a Cape Breton group that have come together as a result of the Celtic Colours International Festival. For the individual members it was part of a professional tour. It went so well they felt the desire to continue on and record some tracks. This album is the outcome and it has been receiving a lot of good press. It's the power of five solo acts coming together and hence the name.
The group consists of Chrissy Crowley from Margaree, Cape Breton on fiddle, Darren McMullen, from Hardwood Lands, NS, a sought after multi-instrumentalist covering guitar, mandolin, whistle and banjo. The other members are Rachel Davis from Baddeck, Cape Breton on fiddle and vocals, Colin Grant from Sydney, Cape Breton on fiddle and Jason Roach on piano.
Its a thunderous recording with power and emotion in equal measure with a number of strong vocal tracks also included. Awards will without doubt come its way.
