Traditional Irish Music
This was just a whistle-stop drop-in to Copenhagen for a concert in the lovely lovely Portalen Theatre. http://www.portalen.dk
Capacity audience all seated with candlelit tables. The organisers had done a wonderful job setting up the hall and the stage. Henning on sound couldn't have been more helpful, even finding a beautiful Taylor spanish guitar so that Chris could play a lovely solo which suited spanish rather than his own steel stringed Maton.
In the team were: Máirín Fahy (fiddle/vocals), Chris Kelly (guitar), Yvonne Fahy (percussion/box/whistles), Padraig Rynne (concertina) and myself (Steinway, Kurzweil, vocals) with Dara Kelly providing much appreciated dancing entertainment.
The time ran away with us, and the two 45 minute sets were over in a jif, such was the enjoyment of we who performed.
Nice to meet Martin O'Hare there, (organiser of the Copenhagen Irish Fest); and Kim Sjogren, (http://www.kim-sjogren.dk/) who is currently finalising a Danish/Irish collaboration album with me. More about that later.
We look forward to our ongoing visits to Scandanavia.
Btw....the weather was literally 'Baltic'..... we don't often witness the sea freezing in Ireland...
