Traditional Irish Music
If you have an interest in fiddle albums that introduce some interesting arrangements to some standard tunes then Danny Diamond's Fiddle Music from 2014 is worth checking out. It was one of the highlights of the year. Earlier this month he also released this rather interesting video of a couple of uilleann piping tunes on open tuned fiddle. On his album we wrote that "before last years solo album, his fiddle music was hidden deep within the high energy music of Mórga as displayed on their recent 2013 album For The Sake of Auld Decency. His 2012 duet album with Aki calledMusic from the Irish, American and Nordic Traditions had a variety of influences as the name would suggest. On Fiddle Music he’s on home ground and in the process has found his own unique voice. It’s an album of traditional fiddle music delivered solo with some unusual accompaniment by way of drones from pipes, fiddle and accordion." Read the full review here
